This will probably come to a SHOCK to many iPhone fans in Malaysia, especially those that lined up to pick up their new iPhone4S on the 16/12/2011. But sadly its TRUE. Well, partly true. In a way 4S does have SIRI. Since its running on IOS5, which has SIRI built into it. But the problem we have here is the language. I mean it supports English commands and we Malaysians do speak English ... err I mean Manglish. Ahhh.... so that's the problem. SIRI doesn't understand Manglish. No wonder. Haha.
No seriously jokes aside. SIRI does work in the 4S we are getting here in Malaysia, partially though. In the case of phone related normal commands like "Write message" SIRI will have no problems understanding it (provided its not too Manglish). However, the problem comes in when we start adding Bahasa Malaysia or any other local dialects into or commands. SIRI will not register them. So the full potential or the greatness of 4S will not be there. Kinda suck right?
So until there is a localized version of SIRI (Maxis is saying that there will be one) comes along, the new owners of 4S will just have to bear with the limited fun they can have with SIRI
For those who do not know what the heck SIRI is, its actually a voice assistant in your 4S. Basically you can speak commands to it and it (in theory) will perform the task that you requested. Eg. if you were to say "Call Mr XX" it will automatically dial the number in the phone book under Mr XX. Same thing you have in Android phones via Vlingo. But what sets SIRI apart form the other is that SIRI can actually interact with you (to a certain extent). Its way more advanced that what you get in Android. Like you can ask SIRI "How are you feeling today?" or "What is the square root of 128?" which is really cool.
